By AccessWDUN Staff

RABBITTOWN — In an early battle for first place in Region 7-AAA, the North Hall girls softball team squeaked out a 1-0 nail-biter over host East Hall Thursday at East Hall Park.

It was a classic pitcher's duel between Niki Carver of North Hall and Macy Banks of East Hall.

The Lady Trojans (5-4, 5-0 Region 7-AAA) scored the game's only run in the fourth inning. Ashlyn Brewster led off the inning with a single and advanced to third on a bunt single by Julian Garrett, who finished with two hits. Garrett stole second on the following pitch and Brewster stole home on the throw to second to give them the lead.

The Lady Vikings (5-5, 4-2) could not get the equalizer against Carver, who pitched a complete-game scattering two hits, walking two, and striking out two.

Macy Banks matched Carver going the distance allowing six hits with one walk and fanning two batters.

Carver, Kailee Dyer, and Macy Clark each had hits for North Hall. Steffanie Redman and Macy Banks collected the two East Hall hits.

North Hall next will travel to Fannin County on Tuesday in another 7-AAA battle.

It was the second straight loss for East Hall, which travels to Commerce on Wednesday in a non-region battle.
