17-year-old charged with stealing, pawning farm equipment

Hall County authorities arrested a 17-year-old Wednesday for allegedly stealing farm equipment.

Sheriff's Lt. Scott Ware said Michael Hunter Dalton allegedly took the equipment from the S. Black Road property in the Clermont area.

"He was living with his mother on the property and stole pieces of farm equipment and pawned them, keeping the proceeds," Ware said.

Dalton is charged with misdemeanor theft by deception and exploitation of an elderly person.

The property belongs to an 85-year-old man who lives in an assisted living home in Florida.

"Like John Deere tractor equipment, things of that nature.  I don't know much about that, but yeah, I know it's not cheap," Ware said.

Ware said one of Dalton's family members turned him in.  Investigators believe the actual crime happened on August 5.

Ware said the stolen equipment was recovered.
