Softball: Chestatee sweeps DH from Rabun Co.

GAINESVILLE — The Chestatee softball team remained unbeaten after sweeping a doubleheader from Rabun County Wednesday at Talon Field.

The Lady War Eagles (9-0) took a narrow 3-2 win in the first game and then capped the day with an 8-2 win over the Lady Wildcats.

In the first game Chestatee scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the victory. Beth Eddins got the win going the distance allowing five hits and no earned runs. The Lady War Eagles led 2-0 after the third but Rabun County tied the game with single runs in the fourth and sixth before Chestatee won it in the final frame.

In the second game Becca Eddins had three hits, including a home run, and four RBI to lead a 10-hit attack. Chestatee trailed 1-0 after the first and just 3-2 after the fourth. But the Lady War Eagles exploded for three runs in the fifth and two in the seventh to blow the game open. Hannah Jones also had three hits and Katilyn Babb added three RBI for Chestatee.

Becca Eddins got the win in the second game scattering five hits and striking out eight.

Chestatee next will take on White County on Thursday on the road to open Region 7-AAAA play.

Rabun County (3-5) will host to Towns County on Thursday.
