UNG's Starlight Celebration and Concert set for Saturday on Gainesville campus

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

The University of North Georgia will host its annual Starlight Celebration and Concert on Saturday at the G.W. Bailey Amphitheater on the Gainesville Campus.

As we reported a few weeks ago, for the first time, the event will be held during the university's Welcome Week to celebrate the fall semester with new and returning students and with the Gainesville community. Previously, the event was held in early summer.

Gates will open for cars to enter the campus at 4:30 p.m., and will remain open until 8:30 p.m. The concert begins at 6:00 and lasts until dark, when the fireworks will begin.

The entry fee is $10 per car or $20 per bus, van or larger. UNG students' entrance is free with a valid UNG student parking permit. Tables for six may be reserved for $100, which includes two event parking passes. All proceeds will support UNG students.

Walk-ins, pets, sparklers, political signage, advertisements (without sponsorship), open flames, and grills are not allowed. All UNG campuses are tobacco-free. Outside food and drinks are welcome, and Jack's Applewood Smoked BBQ will be on-site to sell food, drinks and more.

Special parking is available for those who have state-issued accessible parking permits. Guests without permits will need to park in regular event parking and walk to the event site. Seating is not provided, so guests may wish to bring chairs or blankets to enjoy the concert and fireworks.

In the event of inclement weather, the rain is Saturday, Sept. 10. For details, visit www.ung.edu/starlight.
