ATLANTA (AP) — Extreme drought conditions are persisting in large parts of north Georgia and now cover a portion of Hall County.
The U.S. Drought Monitor's latest report shows that most of north Georgia is now experiencing a severe or extreme drought.
According to the report, drought conditions in parts of nine northwest Georgia and nine northeast Georgia counties are considered "extreme." That's also the case in parts of several metro Atlanta counties — including Fulton, Cobb, Cherokee, Coweta and Douglas.
In northeast Georgia, conditions in the northern third of Hall County are now listed as "extreme" as well as in a swath of counties eastward to the South Carolina line.
