Jefferson man arrested for public indecency, obstruction

A Jefferson man faces public indecency and obstruction charges after authorities said he refused to leave a public campground at Lake Lanier Islands and attempted to strike deputies, all while in the nude.

"As I understand it, on July 22, deputies responded to the campgrounds for complaints that Jeffery Lynn Everett had been seen exercising in the nude by other patrons," said Lt. Scott Ware with the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

Everett, 52, refused to leave when asked to do so by Lake Lanier Islands personnel. Ware said deputies were called, and Everett gave them a fake name.

"Then he attempted to strike, with his fist, one deputy before fleeing into the water," said Ware. "He refused to come out of the water. One deputy went into the water - chest deep or waist deep - and he tried to harm that deputy, as well."

Everett was eventually arrested and booked into the Hall County Jail, where he remains.

Everett was charged with two counts of felony obstruction, four misdemeanor counts of obstruction, criminal trespass, public indecency and giving false information to an officer.
