Luke Sorrow wins Mulligan Power Truck feature at GPS

By Tom Baker

EASLEY, S.C. - Luke Sorrow led every lap to score the win in Saturday night’s Mulligan Power Truck Series feature at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Easley, South Carolina.

Tim Lollis and Sorrow brought the field down to the green flag, with Sorrow jumping out to the early lead in the 60 lap event.

Lollis would run second for most of the distance, but would be bypassed by Randy Porter and Kenneth Headen.

Up front, Sorrow drove away to score the victory. Porter came home in second, with Headen in third, Lollis in fourth and Brandon Fox in fifth.

Mart Nesbitt, Jamie Altop, Brad Campbell, Greg Jarrett and Daniel Alvarez rounded out the top ten.

In other action, Chase Purdy swept both Late Model Stock features to grab his eighth and ninth track feature victories of the season.

In the first feature, Purdy led the opening lap, with Cody Haskins moving to the lead on lap two. Meanwhile, Kres VanDyke moved his way to third.

On lap 21, Purdy saw an opening going into turn three, and moved around Haskins to retake the lead. From there, Purdy would hold on to the top spot for the rest of the distance to take the victory.

Haskins held on to finish in second, with Dylan Hall in third, VanDyke in fourth and Trey Gibson in fifth.

In the second Late Model Stock feature, Purdy grabbed the early lead, but saw his early advantage go away with a lap two caution after Haskins made contact with the wall.

Back under green, Purdy moved away to take his second win on the night. Hall finished in second, with Gibson in third, Daniel Alverez in fourth and Ryan Walker in fifth.

Travis Cox and Ken Guthrie battled back and forth for the lead for the opening two laps of the Super Stock feature. After an early caution, Guthrie grabbed the lead on the restart, and would hold the spot until Tim Sams powered to the lead following the second caution of the evening.

From there, Sams held off Travis Cox to take the victory. Guthrie finished in third, with Stanley Pressley in fourth and Tyler Stephens in fifth.

Spencer Morgan passed early leader Buck Simmons and drove away with the win in the Pure Stock feature. Simmons, Ashley Granata, Zack Meinders and A.J. Davis rounded out the top five.

Hunter Evans had a half-straightaway lead on the rest of the Four Cylinder field until the ninth lap when a yellow flag closed the gap.

Michael Cross used the restart wisely, outracing Evans into turn one and going on to score the victory. Evans finished second, followed by Tommy Davis in third, Manuel Molleda in fourth and Michael Webster in fifth.

Ricky Burnett scored the win in the Renegades feature. Chris Whitfield finished in second, with Bobby Emory in third, Eddie Ray in fourth and Larry Nabors in fifth.

On July 29-30, Greenville-Pickens Speedway plays host to Monster Truck Motornationals, featuring two separate days of Monster Truck action.
