Georgia Gwinnett College announced Friday that First Lady Sandra Deal will be the keynote speaker at the school's summer graduation ceremony.
The commencement, which starts at 10 a.m. Aug. 2, will be held at the Infinite Energy Center (formerly called the Gwinnett Arena) in Duluth, according to a news release from the school.
Deal, a former Hall County middle school teacher, spent more than 15 years in education.
In her time as First Lady, Deal has visited more than 630 schools as part of her "Read Across Georgia" campaign.
