Hall County: 'Operation Thunder Task Force' nets 359 alleged traffic violators during first night of operation

Nearly 360 citations for various traffic offenses were issued Thursday night in Hall County during the first night of "Operation Thunder Task Force," a pre-Fourth of July initiative which will continue through the weekend

According to the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, the Georgia State Patrol, Hall County Sheriff's Office and Gainesville Police Department issued 359 citations - 175 for speeding, 83 for seat belt violations and 101 for other violations including distracted driving   

The officers also issued 45 warnings for various offenses.

Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division found 68 violations during 32 inspections of commercial trucks.

"Operation Thunder Task Force" will continue through the weekend with units from across the state joining the above units for sobriety and safety roadchecks.
