Gainesville's Spencer Ralston was named Class AAAAA boys player of the year, while North Hall's Bartley Forrester was named first team for Class AAAA boys in the 2016 Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association (GHSGCA) All-State team released this week.
Overall, 11 area players were honored by the state's coaches, including first teamers Briana Walton (Buford, Class AAAA girls), Anthony Whobrey (Jackson County, Class AAA boys), Ally Horinek and Maddie Horinek (Union County, Class AA girls) and Sage Culpepper (Commerce, Class A boys).
White County's Karson Kimsey and Jordan Chapman were each named honorable mention, as were Jackson County's Cierra Gunnin and Jefferson's Caroline Martin.
Ralston's honor wrapped a prep career full of highlights that included a team state championship and dozens of individual and team tournament titles. The University of Georgia-bound standout shot a 1-under 71 at the Class AAAAA championship match in Evans.
Forrester, meanwhile, capped a season in which he won the Hall County individual title for the first time.
