Funeral services Sunday for Dawsonville boy killed in motorcycle accident

By B.J. Williams

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon for an 11-year-old Dawsonville boy who was killed in a motorcycle crash this week.

The Georgia State Patrol said Tristan Payne was driving his 2013 Yamaha motorcycle westbound and uphill on Dakota Trail Monday afternoon around 5:45 p.m. As he tried to negotiate a curve on the narrow road, he came upon a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction. Troopers said the truck driver saw the motorcycle and tried to stop and the boy also tried swerve to avoid the collision, but he ran head-on into the truck.

The boy was taken to Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta, but died from his injuries on Wednesday.

An obituary announcement said his family made a decision to donate Tristan's organs upon his death "so that others could live richer lives."

Tristan was a student at Robinson Elementary School and would have entered 5th grade in the new school year. He had just celebrated his birthday on Friday, May 20.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel at Bearden's Funeral Home in Dawsonville.

The State Patrol said no charges will be filed in the crash.
