LCA golf wins state title on Jekyll

By AccessWDUN Staff

The Lanier Christian Academy golf team recently competed in the GICAA golf state championship held on Jekyll Island. LCA entered the tournament on the back of a perfect record in the regular season, having won nine matches.

And Lanier maintained its perfect record -- even at the championship level -- winning the Division II, A crown. The team ranked third overall for Christian schools in the state of Georgia.

LCA's co-ed squad included senior Shantelle Stauffer, Will Davidson, Anna DeMersseman, Will DeMersseman, Ally Warnke, and Cole Wilson. In addition to the team championship, LCA members also brought home individual awards. Stauffer, Wilson, and Ally and Will DeMersseman each made the All-State team. Meanwhile, Wilson was undefeated in match play and was the low medalist male golfer in the region and state tournament.

“I am proud of our students and the way they carried themselves, how they treated other players, and the tremendous work ethic they each displayed," LCA golf coach Mike Wilson said. "There is just great fellowship among the team which has made coaching this team a joy.”
