Riverside Military Academy Cadet Corporal (CPL) Nicholas James, an RMA junior, has been selected to attend the SAME (Society of American Military Engineers) Engineering & Construction Camp during June 19-25 at Marine Corps Base Camp LeJeune near Jacksonville, NC.
According to a press release from Riverside, the SAME Camp provides real engineering activities and challenges. Prior to each hands-on design activity, participants are instructed by a professional engineer or Marine Corps Combat Engineer Instructor on the event, objectives, and engineering principles involved.
Each activity is timed and scored on factors used to award points and eventually battle streamers to the 10 member teams. These tasks challenge students to apply their academic knowledge, problem solving skills, and teamwork skills. The leadership and followership experiences gained by the participants will serve them well as they move forward with their college engineering education and later enter the engineering work community.
