Missing child recovered safe, noncustodial mother charged

A woman being sought by state and local officials for interference with child custody was captured in Franklin County overnight.

Robin Clark, 38, was located on Kesler Road in Franklin County early Thursday and was arrested by agents from GBI Region 11 in Athens, Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas, sheriff's deputies and investigators.

The GBI and Athens-Clarke County Police Department were seeking Clark on warrants for interference with child custody. Clark allegedly disappeared April 13 with an 18-month-old child for whom she does not have legal custody or guardianship.

Thomas said Clark was seen in Toccoa recently and officers believed she could be in Toccoa, Carnesville or Madison County.

Clark was taken into custody and transported by a Franklin County ambulance to Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment of pre-existing injuries, Thomas said.

The child was recovered safety and was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center by the GBI and Thomas, where he was reunited with his father and met by Athens-Clarke County officers and the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services.
