Study: Gainesville is one of state's most affordable cities

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

A new ranking finds that Gainesville is the third-most affordable city in Georgia.

Livability.com emphasizes the list is "not just the cheapest cities" in the state, adding that it looked at many more factors in determining its makeup. A high quality of life, for example, was cited as well as a comparison to the average cost of living to other cities through the state. Transportation and housing options were also factors.

The report also noted the recreational opportunities associated with Lake Lanier and calls Gainesville "a haven for those keen on nature," as well as the arts.
