Boys golf: North Hall notches sectional berth as Forrester takes 8-AAAA individual title

By AccessWDUN Staff

BISHOP — North Hall boys golf and Bartley Forrester continued their impressive seasons on Monday.

The Trojans fired a team score of 327 to notch a spot in the Class AAAA sectionals on May 2, while Forrester carded a low round of 75 to claim his second individual region crown in the Region 8-AAAA championship at Lane Creek Golf Club in Bishop.

North Hall finished behind champion North Oconee (311) and will now prep for the sectionals which the Trojans will host at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega.

Brennan Manson helped the Trojans qualify with an 82 (11th overall), while Michael Kallab and Cord Sanford each shot 85 (tied for 14th overall).

Buford and Stephens County also qualified for sectionals, finishing third and fourth, respectively, with scores of 330 and 348.

Top finishers at the sectional tournament will qualify for the Class AAAA championship on May 16 at Jones Creek Golf Club in Evans.

Forrester will certainly like his chances at any tournament after claiming his second region low round in just his sophomore season -- though he had to fight for it after Stephens County's Cooper Dalrymple also shot a 75 in regulation to trigger a sudden-death playoff.

Forrester also won as a freshman in a playoff in 2015 at Highland Walk.

-- NOTE: Johnson's boys shot a 351 and Chestatee's shot a 386 in Monday's tournament.
