Temperatures to plunge as arctic air moves into Georgia over the weekend

By Associated Press

ATLANTA (AP) Forecasters say they expect some of the coldest temperatures of the winter season across north Georgia when arctic air moves into the region over the weekend, dropping temperatures to around 15 degrees in some parts of the mountains.

The National Weather Service says the bitterly cold temperatures are expected Sunday across all of north Georgia, and that some winter precipitation will be possible Monday into Monday night.

Forecasters said in Thursday morning advisories that it was still too early to predict how much precipitation might fall.

The weather service is calling for low temperatures early Sunday morning of around 15 degrees in Blairsville; 18 in Dalton; 21 in Gainesville; and 22 in Atlanta.
