White County Probate Judge Garrison Baker has been named to a new term on the board that oversees the state probate judges retirement fund.

Baker is also a member of the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council, the White County Historical Society Board of Directors and the Board of Directors for Ninth District Opportunity. He has authored two books on the conservation and preservation of northeast Georgia’s history and cultural heritage.

Another northeast Georgian, Johnny Webb of Rabun Gap, has been appointed to a new term on the Georgia Agricultural Exposition Authority.

Webb retired as master chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy after more than 30 years of service. He was also the deputy director of the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. He became a certified fair executive in 1995 and was a member of the Speakers Bureau for the International Association of Fairs and Expositions for several years.

He is a former president of the Georgia Association of Agricultural Fairs (GAAF) and currently serves as the association’s secretary and treasurer. He was named “Fairman of the Year” by GAAF in 2006.

Both reappointments were made by Gov. Nathan Deal.
