By AccessWDUN

KENNESAW — In a rare midseason exhibition tilt, the University of North Georgia men's basketball team fell at Kennesaw State, 89-76, on Saturday afternoon in KSU's Convocation Center.

Shaquan Cantrell was the Nighthawks' leading scorer with 18 points, while Tyler Dominy and Ebo Smith added 13 and 10 respectively.

The Owls led by just three, 47-44, at the half, but finally pulled away from UNG with a 13-3 run to give the hosts a 70-57 lead with 9:36 left to play.

UNG used a 9-2 run of their own to close it to 72-66, but an 11-2 spurt gave the Owls their largest lead at 83-68 with 2:25 remaining.

NOTES
- Kennesaw State's Nick Masterson hit all five of his 3-point attempts and led all scorers with a game-high 19 points. Aubrey Williams added 10 points and 12 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.

- KSU improves to 5-10 overall on the season. The exhibition contest does not count against the Nighthawks' record.

- Freshman Ross Morkem was a single point shy of a double-double with nine points and a team-best 11 rebounds. The 11 rebounds is a new individual season high for North Georgia.

- The game marked the seventh time this season that Cantrell has led the Nighthawks in scoring. The junior forward has eclipsed double figures in scoring in all 12 contests.

- Ephriam Tshimanga came off the bench to pitch in with five assists and three steals, both team highs.
