November ended up as the second-warmest November on record across the nation, and in Gainesville, 27 of 30 days were warmer than average.
The National Weather Service says, in addition, the January through November period also was the second-warmest nationwide, second only to 2012.
The warmest day of the month in Gainesville, according to records compiled at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport, was 80 on November 3.
But all of that is coming to a screeching halt tonight, when lows across north Georgia are expected to dip into the 20s and lower in some places. Highs and lows for the next several days are forecast to be below average at least through Saturday.
