UNG women knock off Talladega

DAHLONEGA — The University of North Georgia women's basketball team rallied from a first half deficit to move to 7-1 on the season by edging out Talladega Saturday afternoon in Dahlonega. Senior Jordan Livesay led in scoring for the Nighthawks with 21 points, going 8-of-13 from the field.

The Nighthawks controlled the first period, 20-13, behind the work of Amber Skidgel and company. The Tornadoes struck back, going on a run early in the second period, and eventually outscoring North Georgia 20-11 in the period to head to halftime with a slim 33-31 lead.

North Georgia didn't trail for long after the break, tying the game with a basket from Skidgel just 23 secons into the second half and eventually going on to take the lead, one that they held for the remainder of the half. 

NOTES
- Senior guard Jordan Livesay led the Nighthawks with 21 point on the day. Amber Skidgel (13), Deana Blankinship (10) and Mackenzie Darrah (10) also filled in the list of Nighthawks in double figures. Blankinship also hit the boards hard for the Nighthawks, coming down with a team-best ten rebounds to secure her first double-double of the season.

- Tashieba Henry (19) and Tajanee Weels (16) led Talladega (7-7) in scoring as the only two players in double figures.

- By only turning the ball over six times, the Nighthawks were able to outscore Talladega, 17-1, off of turnovers.

- Today's game was the first ever meeting between the two schools.

- The Nighthawks will host Carson-Newman on Wednesday, Dec. 7. Tipoff will be at 6:00 p.m., in Memorial Hall.
