Area golfers finish strong at Gainesville City Junior Open

GAINESVILLE — The final round of the 2016 Gainesville City Junior Open was played on Sunday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

John Baker of Cumming won the boys 16-to-18 year old division of 2016 Gainesville City Junior Open Championship shooting a 3-over par Sunday to finish with a total of 147.

Baker birdied the 18th hole to win the title by 1 shot over Milton's Ethan Vanderzagt (148). Tied for third were the North Hall duo of Brennan Manson and Michael Kallab (150).

Balirsville's Maddie Horinek won the 14-to-18 year old girls division. Horinek (153) also birdied the 18th to win by a single shot over Suwanee's Alison Crenshaw (154). Allly Horinek (160) finished third.

Josh Ledford of Canton fired a second round 69 (141) to win the boys 10-13 division. Ledord's 69 was the only sub-par round of the tournament. Ryan Davidson of Flowery Branch was second (150) followed by Gainesville's Sam Patterson (153).

The boys ages 14-15 winner was Drew Shell (150) of Cumming.  Shell also tied for 3rd in the overall boys division. Andrew Hughes shot a 2nd round 74 (154) to move into solo second place followed by followed by Canton's Luke Ledford (155).
