LISTEN: Search underway for missing Gwinnett County woman

Gwinnett County authorities are looking for a Lawrenceville woman who has been missing since earlier this month and is believed to have been spotted in Gainesville.

According to a missing persons report from Gwinnett County Police, Tosha Herron last had contact with her parents at their Buford home on October 7.

Lumpkin County Sheriff's Capt. Marcus Sewell confirmed Herron's vehicle was located in a ravine on Highway 129 North on October 12 at 10:40 p.m. and had been in an accident. He also confirmed they searched Thursday, Friday and Saturday and located no one in or around the vehicle.

"The investigators came out there, they searched for her in the middle of the night, they were there until about 4:30 in the morning looking for her," said Herron's sister, Stacie Nelson on the Afternoon News Wrap. "They could find where she crawled out of the vehicle, so she survived the accident, and there wasn't a whole lot of blood and things in the vehicle."

Nelson said investigators have cleared the mountain. "At that point, she became a missing person out of Lumpkin County and they've taken over the investigation."

"We've had multiple leads and sightings of her in the Gainesville area, specifically off of the Jesse Jewell Parkway," said Nelson. "Lots of people are saying they've seen her, either a day or two ago or a couple of days, but we haven't actually been able to lay eyes on her ourselves.

The 36-year-old Herron is described as 5'2", 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on Herron's whereabouts should contact Gwinnett County Police at 770-513-5000 or Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office at 706-482-2615. Alternatively, leads can be called in to Nelson at 678-517-6533.
