Gainesville High School NJROTC drill team qualifies for state drill meet

The Gainesville High School NJROTC Drill Team recently won first place overall at a NJROTC Drill Meet in Stockbridge and has qualified to participate in the state championship meet next March.
 
Other awards received by the team were Second Place in Academics, Sit-ups, Push-ups, Overall Drill, Armed Exhibition, and Overall Athletics; Third Place in Unarmed Basic, Unarmed Exhibition, and Personnel Inspection; and Fourth Place in Color Guard.  Sixteen schools from across the state participated in the meet, with approximately 650 total Cadets involved. 
 
GHS Cadets who received individual awards were Luz Acosta (First Place/Top Score Academic Test), Tyra Newton (Second Place Academic Test), Keren Garcia (First Place Female Sit-ups), Khoi Vu (Second Place Male Sit-ups), Tyler Truong (Second Place Male Push-ups), Fernando De La Vega (Individual Armed Exhibition, Third Place Male Push-ups, Fifth Place Male Sit-ups) and Atzyri Ramirez (Fifth Place Female Sit-ups)
