Clarkesville announces Monday parking lot closure on the square

CLARKESVILLE -- The rebuilding of the Clarkesville Square's east side will reach a milestone Monday.

Large cranes will be brought in to set large concrete slabs in the new plaza between two buildings undergoing repair.

The magnitude of the work and the size of the cranes will necessitate the closure of all parking on the east side of the square from 5 a..m to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, said Clarkesville City Manager Barbara Kesler.

Any vehicles parked on the east side of the Clarkesville Square as of 5 a.m. Monday will be towed at the owner's expense, city officials said.

"We ask for everyone's pardon as this huge task is completed," said Clarkesville Mayor Barrie Aycock. "Because there will be vary large cranes transporting several hundred tons of concrete, it is in the best interest of the public that all cars be removed from that lot until [Monday] evening."
