New details, identities released in Barrow County fire

Barrow County authorities are releasing more information about a suspicious house fire and stabbing last week.

Deputies were called to the home on Warren Way in Winder on Friday after reports about a possible stabbing and a fire. There, they found Dennis Walker, 46, of Winder, lying near the roadway with a wound to his neck, according Sheriff's Captain Ryan Sears in a press release.

Sears said Walker told deputies he had been robbed and stabbed by Brandon Adams, 32, of Braselton. Walker told them he had invited Adams to the home and when Adams went to the bathroom, he returned with a gun. Sears said in the release that Walker was robbed and stabbed five times in the neck by Adams, who then started a fire to some items in the home.

Sears said Adams is in custody in another jurisdiction but warrants have been obtained for this incident.

Walker received treatment for his injuries at a local hospital, according to the release.

Sears said the investigation is ongoing.
