The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce's Vision 2030 plans the unveiling of a new addition to the Gainesville-Hall County Public Art Tour Friday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.  The ceremony will take place at 10:00 in the Auxiliary Love Light Garden at the North Patient Tower, hosted by the Vision 2030 Public Art Committee.

The 3D metal sculpture of “Wings,” was done by local artist Jane Taylor to represent the spirit of Hospice.

“Public art takes all shapes and sizes, but what distinguishes it is the unique association of how it is made, where it is located, and what it means. Placed within the public view, public art is open to everyone to enjoy, interpret and learn,” said Elizabeth Higgins, Vision 2030 Executive Director.

Vision 2030, sponsored by the chamber of commerce, is a community project to provide a common vision for what Gainesville and Hall County would look like in the year 2030. The Public Art Committee was formed to create opportunities for artists in conjunction with the growth of the community.

“We are grateful to partner on the Public Art Committee Project and especially for the gift from an Anonymous Donor to The Medical Center Foundation to give Wings a permanent home,” said Nancy Colston, President and CDO of The Medical Center Foundation.  “It is a wonderful complement to Love Light and the very special work of Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center.  Many works of art at Northeast Georgia Medical Center have been made possible through philanthropy and are examples of therapy that provides healing beyond the bedside to benefit patients, their families, visitors and staff.”

Jane Taylor is a 3D Metal Artist who specializes in repurposing rustic compositions on a massive scale, clever use of patina and eclectic array of items fashioned from found elements and salvaged architectural treasures are one of a kind. She is a Gainesville native and the owner of Cottage Garden Antiques.
