Ticket sales begin for Clarkesville Mardi Gras fundraiser

CLARKESVILLE - The Clarkesville Main Street program is gearing up for its fourth-annual Mardi Gras fundraiser.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Habersham Event Center inside Old Clarkesville Mill on Grant Street.

The award-winning gala will feature dinner, a disc jockey, dancing, silent auction, photo booth and crowning of a the Mardi Gras king and queen, according to Main Street Manager Mary Beth Horton.

The event is open to those age 21 and older, and will include a cash bar.

"You can purchase your tickets by going online at clarkesvillega.com or like the City of Clarkesville on Facebook - there's a link there," Horton said.

Tickets are $30 per person.

"Of course 100 percent of the proceeds go toward the facade and sign grant program, which is the financial incentive for business and property owners in Clarkesville to do restoration and rehabilitation projects."

The award-winning event traditionally is one of the city's most popular.

"We've sold out every year, and we're hoping to sell out again," Horton said. "We've always sold out about a week before the event, so if we're staying on that course then people probably have until the end of January [to by tickets]. But the first week of February, they're pretty much already gone."

The facade and sign grant program already has assisted with 31 different projects in downtown Clarkesville.

Reservations for the Clarkesville Mardi Gras may be made by calling (706) 754-2220.
