LAVONIA — A radio station in Hartwell is reporting that a local woman is under federal indictment for threatening to kill 9th District Congressman Doug Collins and his daughter.

The report from WLHR in Hartwell said Pam Spivey of Lavonia has been indicted on two counts of making terroristic threats.

According to the report, Spivey apparently told a friend she was upset with Collins' support of the so-called Medicare Death Panel and was prepared to kill Collins and his daughter. The friend alerted police and Spivey was arrested.

The incident occurred on August 31. Spivey was arrested the same day.

Local police say Spivey has a history of mental illness.

Katy Summerlin, a spokeswoman for Collins' office, said in an email to AccessWDUN Friday morning the congressman's office is cooperating with the investigation on all levels.

"We are fully cooperating with the investigation, and we are grateful to the FBI and law enforcement for their diligence. We hope to get this matter resolved as soon as possible," stated Summerlin.
