Linville races to Southern Nationals win at Ponderosa

By Michael Despain

JUNCTION CITY, Ky. - Dustin Linville scored the Southern Nationals Bonus Series victory Friday night at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky., taking home a $3,000 payday in the process.

Linville and Michael Chilton brought the 22 car starting field to the green flag, with Linville taking the lead. The only caution of the event flew on lap 4 when Rod Carter, Jr. and Donnie Sullivan tangled in turn four.

Back underway, Linville would set a rapid pace at the point and would begin the process of working slower on lap 11 of the 30 lap contest. Justin Rattliff would work past Chilton for second, while Skylar Marlar, Jason Jameson, and Victor Lee would have an entertaining battle for fourth.

Linville would exercise some caution in lapped traffic, allowing Rattliff to close in on the leader a bit. However, it would be Linville’s night as he would drive to the checkered flag first. Rattliff finished in second, with Chilton in third, Lee in fourth and Jameson in fifth.

Marlar, Stephen Breeding, Joe Janowski, Tommy Bailey and Brandon Kinzer rounded out the top 10.
