Parolee faces drug trafficking charge, authorities seize meth. worth nearly $31,000

FLOWERY BRANCH - A parolee faces a trafficking methamphetamine charge after authorities said they found 11 ounces of the drug in his vehicle following a wreck earlier this month.

Abraham Anthony Martinez, 38, of Flowery Branch, was arrested and booked into the Hall County Jail on the trafficking charges Monday morning, according to Hall County Multi Agency Narcotics Squad (MANS) Lt. Scott Ware.

The traffic accident happened on Interstate 985 in south county on August 3..  According to Ware, Martinez's vehicle wrecked into the median on the northbound side of the Interstate between Flowery Branch and Oakwood.  Martinez allegedly abandoned the vehicle and fled the accident scene.

"Hall County authorities investigated the scene and ultimately identified the driver and took warrants out for him for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to maintain lane and no license on person," Ware said.

"He (Martinez) was arrested and released on August 23 for the traffic charges.  MANS agents took out warrants for trafficking methamphetamine based on the amount that was located in the car," Ware added.

Agents estimated the street value of the seized methamphetamine is $30,800.

Martinez was on parole for various other drug offenses, including possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of Alprazolam with the intent to distribute, possession of hydrocodone with the intent to distribute and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, according to Ware.
Martinez served less than a year incarcerated in the Spalding County Correctional Institution on those charges, also out of Hall County, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Ware said Martinez is being held without bond in the Hall County Jail on the latest charge.
