Roanoke shooter once worked at Ga. TV station

SAVANNAH — The man who shot and killed two journalists in Roanoke, Virginia Wednesday spent part of his career at a TV station in Georgia.

WTOC in Savannah reported on its website that Vester Flanagan, known as Bryce Williams on air, worked at the station from 1997 through 1999.

The former news director for the station described Flanagan as an "average reporter."   Mike Sullivan said he couldn't think of any red flags or any reason to believe Flanagan was capable of the murders he carried out in Virginia.

Flanagan opened fire on WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward as they were conducting a live interview. The woman being interviewed was shot and wounded.
