Softball: Pitching carries Lady Wolves to win over AAAAAA Lambert

SUWANEE — Peyton Wolfe and Kennedy Kotula tossed a combined four-hitter to lead Buford to an 8-0 win over Lambert Wednesday in girls softball action.

Wolfe (3-0) scattered three hits and fanned two in five innings to get the win. Kotula pitched the final two innings allowing just one hit.

Meanwhile, the offense exploded for 13 hits with junior Samantha Thomas providing most of the damage with two home runs and five RBI and also scored three times. Senior Baylee Sexton had two hits, stole two bases, and scored twice for the Lady Wolves.

Buford took a 3-0 in the third inning on the strength of the first of Thomas's two-run home runs. The Lady Wolves added two runs in the fifth and Thomas belted her second two-run home run in the sixth to help the game out of reach.

Sophomore Gabby Benson had two hits and one RBI and Senior Biz Waters also had two hits for Buford.
 
The Lady Wolves improved to 7-1 with the victory and will open Region 8-AAAA play on the road against north Oconee on Thursday.
