New tax kiosk opens in North Hall

By Tyler Nutt

GAINESVILLE—Citizens gathered today for the opening of Hall County's first automated tax kiosk. The kiosk sits in the lobby of the North Hall Community center to serve the purpose of helping residents renew their licence plate tags.

The automated kiosk allows residents of Hall County and Banks County to renew their tags by scanning a drivers license, a renewal notice, or by searching for renewals on the machine by entering personal information.

"I think anything that brings convenience to the taxpayers of this county is a good idea", said North Hall resident Tommy Sandoval. "It keeps people up here from having to drive all the way down to the Government Center to stand and wait."

The kiosk will help residents living in the northern part of Hall County from making the drive down to Gainesville to renew thier tags. The North Hall tag office closed four years ago.

"Our office is all about costumer service," said Hall County Tax Commissioner Darla Eden. "We are very excited to add this new service and new initiative and use this technology to benefit the customer service for Hall County."

To complete a transaction, it cost three dollars with a two percent fee if you are using a credit card.

Hours of operation for the kiosk are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
