Auburn man charged in fatal hit-and-run in Buford

LAWRENCEVILLE—An Auburn man faces charges in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident that killed 24-year-old motorcyclist Scott Mosely.

Jacob O'Reilly, 24, faces charges of homicide by vehicle, hit and run and fleeing the scene of an accident, among other.

The fatal crash happened July 27 shortly after midnight at the intersection of Camp Branch Road and Gravel Springs Road in Buford, and police at the time identified the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored Honda Accord with damage to the front bumper.

Sunday night, authorities began searching nearby businesses, apartment complexes and neighborhoods to try to locate a car that fit the description, and according to a press release from Gwinnett County Police, the lead investigator located the car at the Mall of Georgia shortly after midnight.

The car was later impounded, and O'Reilly was brought in for an interview.

He was subsequently arrested at his home later Monday morning.
