Driver killed when car plunges from bridge in east Georgia

By Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) Authorities say a motorist has been killed after his car plunged off a bridge in Columbia County outside Augusta.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that the wreck was reported shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday.

Deputy Coroner Harriett Garrison says a fisherman reported that a car had run off Keg Creek bridge and plunged into the water.

Garrison said the Columbia County dive team retrieved the body of the male driver from the car, which was 13 feet underwater. The victim was not immediately identified.
