GILLSVILLE - Athens Highway was shut down at Gillsville Highway for most of the Friday afternoon rush hour following a traffic accident and ensuing fire.
Deputy Hall County Fire Chief Chad Black said the crash involved a car and a tractor trailer. The truck caught fire.
Black said two people suffered minor injuries in the accident.
The fire department, Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol and Georgia Department of Transportation were on scene for cleanup and investigation.

All lanes of Athens Highway were opened by around 6:30 p.m., while crews continued to clean up the turn lanes, according to Hall County 911 officials.
