Asphalt repair to close part of I-85 north overnights for the next two weeks

By AccessWDUN staff

NORCROSS — The Georgia Department of Transportation will close up to three lanes of Interstate 85 northbound overnight for next two weeks for asphalt repairs beginning in Norcross at Jimmy Carter Blvd/Hwy 140, exit 99 to Buford Highway 20, exit 115.

"There is no good time to work on the interstate in Gwinnett County but the best of the worst times is overnight weekdays so that is our plan. Georgia DOT Maintenance Crews will work overnights tonight through Friday morning this week and next week," said Brent Cook, Georgia DOT District Engineer serving Gwinnett County.

"We will remove the damaged asphalt and replace it with new asphalt. Work is planned for 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. as weather allows. Up to three lanes could be closed at a time. Delays are expected as work occurs. Crews will complete the repairs as quickly as possible leaving you with a smoother ride."
