Homicide investigation continues in Banks County

HOMER - A death discovered in Banks County early Thursday has been ruled a homicide.

Banks County Sheriff's Sgt. Carissa McFaddin said following an autopsy on the victim, who was located during a welfare check of a home at 1151 McDonald Circle, Homer, charges have been filed.

Billy Charles Lewallen, 49, has been charged with malice murder and concealing a body, McFaddin said.

The body is believed to have been in the house for several days, McFaddin said.

That body is being held at the GBI State Crime Lab pending confirmation of the identity.

The identity is expected to be released early next week, McFaddin said.
