Deadline nearing for appeals of Hall personal property assessments

By AccessWDUN staff

GAINESVILLE — It is now less than a month until the deadline to appeal the personal property assessments mailed by the Hall County Tax Assessors office May 15.   The deadline is June 29.

Personal property includes business and manufacturing equipment and inventory, boats and aircraft. As required by state law, this annual notice includes a written explanation of the value of taxable property and an estimate of the property tax bill.

County officials have emphasized that the assessment notice is not a tax bill. The estimate of taxes on the notice is based on the current year's assessed value and the previous year's tax rate. The 2015 property tax rate will not be determined until it is approved by the various governing authorities, the county, schools and municipalities.

Property owners have 45 days from the date of the notice to file an appeal via U.S. mail or in person. Click here http://www.hallcounty.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=125 for more information.
