Suwanee City Council approves $11K for Town Center lighting improvements

SUWANEE—New lights are on the way to the streetlamps in the Suwanee Town Center following a contract approval Tuesday night by the city council.

The $11,326 contract was awarded to All Power Electric, Inc.

Marty Allen, City Manager, said residents can expect to see new LED bulbs installed into the streetlights fairly quickly.

"We should be able to install it within the next couple of months," said Allen.

LED bulbs effectively kill two birds with one stone, as they are both brighter and more energy efficient than standard bulbs.

"It will probably have a payback in about a year-and-a-half to two years," said Allen.

All Power Electric was the lowest bidder on the project.

OTHER NOTES:

  • Council approved a franchise agreement with Sawnee EMC to provide power to three buildings in the city. Allen said this was more of a "legal cleanup" to make sure no legal issues arose down the road.
