Two Jefferson homes destroyed by fires

JEFFERSON - Two house fires, among other things, kept Jackson County Fire crews busy Thursday.

At 4:15 a.m., crews responded to a three-story home in the 5600 block of Meadow View Drive that ended up a total loss. At 11:17 a.m., a crew responded to a home in the 500 block of Lester Woods Road, which also was a total loss.

"Both of them have the State Fire Marshalls Office and the Jackson Trail Fire Department looking in to them," said Emergency Management Director Steve Nichols. "Right now, I don't have any determination of either one, they're still open cases."

Nichols said no one was home at the time of the Lester Woods Road fire and no one was living in the home on Meadow View Road at the time of the fire.

Jackson Trail, South Jackson, West Jackson, Jefferson, and the Jackson County CI Fire Departments all assisted with the fires.

At 5:00 p.m., the investigators were still on the scene of the Lester Woods Road fire.
