By UNG Athletic Communications

DAHLONEGA -- The sixth-ranked University of North Georgia softball team will host No. 8 Georgia College in the 2015 NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional this Friday and Saturday at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium. The winner of the best-of-three series will advance to the NCAA Division II Championship in Oklahoma City.

UNG (47-7) advanced to the Super Regional round with a perfect 3-0 performance in last week's Regional, defeating Limestone, 6-0, in the opening round before collecting two wins over Catawba, 6-1 and 3-0. The Bobcats punched their ticket to Dahlonega with a 3-0 performance as well, taking down Armstrong, 4-3, in the first game of the Milledgeville Regional and followed with a 3-1 victory over Carson Newman and a 12-4 run-rule win over Armstrong in the championship game.

The two teams have met three times already this season with North Georgia taking all three. The Nighthawks swept the regular season doubleheader in Milledgeville by scores of 3-1 and 2-1. The in-state rivals went on to meet in the Peach Belt Tournament championship game with UNG winning again, 2-0.

This marks North Georgia's sixth Super Regional appearance in the past seven years. The Nighthawks were successful in advancing to the NCAA DII Championship in 2009, '10 and '11, but fell just a win shy of advancing in 2012 and '14.

The 2015 NCAA Division II Championship will be held May 21-25 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. This is the first year the Division II Championship has been held at the same site as the NCAA Division I Women's College World Series.
