CORNELIA - Cornelia leaders have announced the planned closure of a major downtown artery later this week.
The entire length of Clarkesville Street, from Main Street and the railroad downtown to Veterans Memorial Drive, will be closed beginning Thusday, May 7, and continuing into Friday to complete repaving.
Until the project is completed, all traffic will be detoured onto Main Street for access into and out of downtown.
Cornelia officials say the closure is in the interest of public safety and apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
