Couch, Schofield to be honored by school resource officer group

By AccessWDUN staff

At the National Association of School Resource Officer annual NASRO National Conference in Orlando, Florida this summer, Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch and Hall County School Superintendent Will Schofield will be presented with the Regional Exceptional Service Award.

Regional Exceptional Service Awards are presented to individuals for their continuous and sustained service to the schools community and efforts that go above and beyond the normal school staff member or School Resource Officer.

Collaborative efforts between the two have yielded numerous school safety systems to be implemented in Hall County Schools. Some of those accomplishments include a Visitor Management System that provides a single secured point of entry into the schools with a photo id taken to place on a visitor’s pass as well as a secured login record. Operation Safe School has been put into effect, which requires patrol deputies to make the schools in their district a part of their routine patrol route. Inclement weather plans are in place that allows Patrol and School Resource Officers the ability to provide live reports to the new Hall County app that feeds live information to administrators who then makes the decision to close or delay schools during inclement weather.

The award will be presented on July 7, 2015.
