Survey says Suwanee residents happier with their city than most

SUWANEE - The results of the National Citizen Survey suggest that residents of Suwanee are happier with their city overall than most other people across the country are with their residence.

The survey, which was sent out to roughly 1,200 citizens on a random basis, consisted of about 100 questions rating a variety of topics across the city, from the survey taker's view on how Suwanee rates as a place to retire to how they rate the quality of new development in the city.

More than 500 jurisdictions took part in the survey.

Suwanee placed in the Top 10 of many categories based on citizen responses, but the highlights include areas where the city ranked No. 1 in the country. A few of those areas include:

  • Overall confidence in the Suwanee government (86% of responders rated their confidence as "excellent" or "good.")
  • City-sponsored special events (91%)
  • City's promotion of a welcoming environment for citizens (81%)
  • Honesty of city government (83%)

Responses also rated Suwanee No. 2 in the country for its parks, No. 3 for its land planning and zoning, and No. 4 for open spaces and their preservation.

According to a report on the city website, the survey is "a collaborative effort between the National REsearch Center, Inc., and the International City/County Management Association."

The full results of the survey, including data from previous years, is available on the city's website.
