WASHINGTON, D.C. - Douglas W. McDonald, Sr., Grand Master of The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons for the State of Georgia, participated in an Easter Weekend Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
McDonald, who is from Habersham County, and Masonic First Lady Carol McDonald traveled with a group of 80+ Masons and wives on a five-day bus tour from Atlanta to Washington.
The group toured many historical sites, including the Billy Graham Library, Harrison Landing, Berkeley Plantation and Gardens, Jamestown Settlement, the birthplace of George Washington in Popes Creek, Virginia, the U.S. Capito, Ft. McHenry, Maryland, the George Washington National Masonic Memorial, and Arlington Cemetery where the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is located.
McDonald also raised and lowered a United States 15-star flag over Ft. McHenry. The trip coincided with the Grand Master’s Grand Lodge theme for the year: “Return to Patriotism and Our Roots”.
