JEFFERSON - Authorities have released the name of the 17-year-old that was killed after he was hit by a train Thursday morning.
Jefferson Police Chief Joe Worthman confirmed the victim was Juan De Dios Padilla Arellano. Worthman did not know where the teen resided.
Steve Nichols with Jackson County Emergency Services said the conductor of the CSX train alerted authorities to the incident, which happened on Railroad Avenue near the old antique mall.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nichols said the nearby roads were closed for most of the morning.
