Daspit scores first NeSmith Chevy WRS win of 2015

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The only NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 4 action took place on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, Miss., where series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, Miss. took his first win of the season.

That moved Daspit up to the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 141 points after one win, two top five finishes and three top ten finishes in three races.

That was the only event on the ten race Week 4 schedule of events that was able to be completed, as rain washed out the nine other races over the weekend.

That one race resulted in several changes among the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings. Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, Miss. finished seventh at Hattiesburg Speedway on Friday night in the Strength Center Special to remain on top of the standings with 190 points after three wins, four top five finishes and five top ten finishes in five races.

Cliff Williams of Star, Miss. and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, Miss. share the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 144 points apiece. Williams finished second on Friday night in the Cliff Williams Plumbing GRT, and Lee drove the Billy Riels Racing Special to a fifth-place finish on Friday night. Williams has one win, two top five finishes and three top ten finishes in three races. Lee has one win and four top five finishes in four races.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, Ala. did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 4 action, and dropped to the fourth spot in the standings with 142 points after one win, two top five finishes and three top ten finishes in three races driving the Skinner’s Body Shop CVR. The 13-year-old driver also leads the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for drivers 18 years of age and younger.

Joseph Joiner of Milton, Fla. did not compete in Week 4 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action and dropped to sixth in the standings with 139 points. Joiner, who leads the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point standings, has one win and two top five finishes in three races driving the Three Trade Consultants Special.

Justin McRee of Woodstock, Ga. is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 132 points after one top five finish and two top ten finishes in four races driving the High Roller Race Cars Special. McRee did not compete in Week 4 action.

Dustin Boykin of Wiggins, Miaa. finished eighth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in the Boykin Racing Trak-Star and moved into a three-way tie for the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series with Nick Thrash of Meridian, Miss. and Sid Scarbrough of Florence, Miss. at 131 points apiece.

Boykin has two top five finishes and four top ten finishes in four races. Thrash has one top five finish in three races driving the McDevitt Enterprises GRT and Scarbrough has one top five finish and two top ten finishes in four races in the Villa South Trak-Star.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 4 rainouts began on Friday night with season opener at Penton Raceway in Penton, Ala. All eight races on the Saturday night Week 4 schedule of events were washed out, but Camden Speedway in Camden, Tenn. did make it to intermission, but did not run feature events.

Other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 4 Saturday night rainouts were at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Tex., the season opener at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Miss., Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., the co-sanctioned race with the Southern Crate Late Model Series at Sabine Motor Speedway in Many, La., the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series race at Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla., St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, La., and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala.
