March For Babies sees 400 brave weather threat in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE - Despite the overnight rain and the threat for more of the same throughout the morning, an estimated 400 people turned out Saturday for the annual Hall County March of Dimes "March For Babies".

Held at Gainesville's Wilshire Park, event Director Lori Allen said they were a bit nervous about the weather and how it could affect turnout, but it ended up perfect: not too hot, not too cold.  "It was an amazing day, an incredible day, the weather was perfect,"Allen said.

The Paynes were the Ambassador Family this year.  Allen said baby Grace Ann has an awesome testimony and her family was able "to share their miracle story as listeners celebrated,"

Allen thanked event sponsor The Longstreet Clinic as well as all the other sponsors who helped make the day a success.

Allen said the two-mile trek went from Wilshire Park's pavilion to the intersection of Academy Street and Northside Drive near the Hall County Library.

"I had such an amazing outpouring as people were leaving today," Allen said in retrospect.  "They loved it and can't wait for next year."

Allen says their goal is $120,000 and those who were unable to be there in person can call her at (678) 873-1403, or they can visit the group's website by clicking here.
